Oct 10

Depart from San Francisco for flight to Lisbon, Portugal.  Dinner and breakfast served on flight.

Oct 11  Upon arrival in Lisbon we will be met by our tour guide and board our bus and travel to our hotel in Fatima.  Dinner and overnight
Oct 12

 

Today we gather in Cova de Iria an enormous plaza where a little chapel was built and where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared to the children. We will celebrate Holy Mass in the square.  On the far side of the plaza rises the great basilica which was begun on 13 of May 1928. In the basilica are the tombs of the three visionaries, siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto, who died in 1919 and 1920 respectively, and were beatified in 1970 and their cousin Lucia dos Santos who died in 2005.  We will take part in the candlelight procession in the evening.

 
Oct 13 In the afternoon we will leave for Santiago.  Dinner and overnight 
Oct 14  This morning we will walk through Old Town to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela the most famous place for pilgrimages in Spain.  The cathedral is built over the burial place of St. James the apostle.  After our visit we will travel to the little town of Leon. Dinner and overnight   
Oct 15

 

This morning we will travel to Lourdes.  On the way we will have a short stop at Cava St. Ignasi, the place where Saint Ignatius of Loyola spent eleven months as a hermit.  After crossing the scenic Pyrenees Mountains, we will reach Lourdes in the afternoon.

We will have two full days in Lourdes.  The day will include Holy Mass, the Via Crucis, the Eucharistic procession and the evening candlelight procession.  You will also have time to take a bath in the healing waters as requested by the Virgin Mary.  Dinner and overnight in Lourdes 
Oct 18

After breakfast we will travel to Zaragoza, Spain to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar.  The pillar that had been fashioned by the Angels is still there and has been venerated and kissed by the faithful for almost 2000 years.  When you visit the Chapel of our lady of Pilar, you will see the tiny image resting on the Pillar brought over by Mother Mary and the Angels.  And if you go to the back of the Chapel as our Pope John Paul II did, you too can kiss the Pillar.  We will also visit the Monastery of Monserrat then travel to Madrid.  We will have a short tour of the city. Dinner and overnight

Oct 19 

Today we will visit Barcelona where we will have a tour of the city and a chance to see the outside of Sagrada Familia. Construction on this church, Antoni Gaudiís unfinished masterpiece, began in 1884 and will continue for at least another decade.  We will celebrate Holy Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Barcelona.  We will also see Las Ramblas, the most famous street in Barcelona.  Dinner and overnight

Oct 20 Today we leave Barcelona and fly to Split, Croatia.  From Split we will travel by bus to Medjugorje.  Dinner and overnight

While in Medjugorje our group will attend the services at St. James Church, climb Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain and hear a talk by one of the visionaries (if available) or a local priest.  We will attend the evening service which begins with the Holy Rosary.  During the Rosary Our Lady gives her blessing to everyone there.  This is followed by Holy Mass and the blessing of religious articles and the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.

Oct 24  Transfer to the airport, filled with cherished memories, for your return flight home.
